Rombo Fire

The crew has been assigned to the Rombo Fire (Bitterroot National Forest), 2 1/2 miles west of Darby, MT. The lightening caused fire is 1600 acres, burning in heavy bug killed timber...dense canopy. Most of the growth occurred Saturday evening due to strong gusty winds from the southwest. The fire did not burn as actively Sunday with primarily single and groups of trees burning. Montana is under a state of emergency as several huge fires burn. Weather forecast for today is a 30% chance of scattered thunderstorms with scattered light rain showers.
