The Piute fire has burned more than 14,500 acres and is now 15 percent contained.
The rugged terrain along with gusty winds expected later Thursday make for a difficult battle. The Fire continues to move east towards the Kelso Valley area and slowly down slope on the western perimeter in the Thompson Canyon area. The fire is approx. 18% contained and 16,626 acres.
