Day 9 (yesterday)

The fire was active on the western and northern perimeters (where the crew was working) due to strong southeasterly winds. Control lines on the western perimeter were lost as the fire burned through the Red Mountain area. The crew worked on completing indirect hand line to prevent the fire from moving onto private land. When the wind direction changed and the fire flared up, they moved SAFELY to another area. Air operations continued to work the fire with water bucket and retardant drops.

Current size is 30,747 acres and containment is approx. 22%. A strong, high pressure area is bringing very hot temperatures to the area; southeast winds are expected.

REMEMBER: check the "crews current location" link to see where they are working
