Today the crew mopped up 300' into the fire. They dropped more hazard trees today, as well. Sounds like they may do one more shift on this fire. The fire is approx 250 acres and 70% contained. They are 3.5 miles East of North Fork, CA. Temps have been average but humidity's are low (10-15%).

Senior Firefighter Angel Preciado places a face cut on a hazard tree/snag.
(The face cut allows the snag to fall in the direction the faller wants it to go).

Placing the back cut

Apprentice Firefighter Scott McClanahan performing the position of "Swamper" assist the faller in hammering in wedges to move the tree's weight towards the face cut.
